May 1 will mark the beginning of Building Safety Month, an international campaign aimed at raising awareness about building safety and the necessity of code enforcement for making communities safer.
Now in its 39th year, the campaign is recognized by the 64,000 member strong International Code Council (ICC) as well as a diverse partnership of government agencies, non profit organizations and professional associations. The theme for 2019 will be “No Code. No Confidence.”
For its first week, the campaign will focus on the crucial importance of natural disaster preparation.
With activity like hurricanes, floods, wildfires and earthquakes increasing in severity and frequency, the ICC has outlined a number of ways families and communities can protect themselves in advance from one of these potentially devastating events:
